Community co-design with The Green Estate CIC

We worked with The Green Estate CIC to bring together a community co-design team of twelve residents from Manor Castle Ward, Sheffield, who explored what place-based urban resilience means in practice from a community-led perspective.

Together we collaborated with local people and partners, academic researchers and expert practitioners to share stories and skills and shape a Greenprint for a more connected, nature-rich, and resilient local future.

This report tells the story of our work together through the Open Manor Project, a participatory co-design initiative commissioned by The Green Estate Community Interest Company (CIC) and funded by the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority and Yorkshire Policy Innovation Partnership.

Open Manor Greenprint sets out what The Green Estate, local partners, and residents might build together: not as a fixed plan imposed from outside, but as a living document that can grow and adapt alongside the community it serves. This is not a plan handed down from outside. It is something planted here, in Manor Castle Ward, by the people who know it best, and grown together, in the hope that it will still be flowering long after our project has ended.
