Local Trust
Project: Community-university partnerships for place-based change
Explore the projectAt Local Trust, we commissioned Al and Bryony in 2026 to carry out a piece of research and also to support an event – both on the topic of the civic role of universities. The project had a short timescale, and required Al and Bryony to hit the ground running, which they did brilliantly.
They produced a high quality report based on four case study fieldwork areas, within the deadline. They were able to achieve this thanks to their excellent networks and deep knowledge of the sector, and also their ability to grasp the brief quickly. Drafts were of a very good quality and Al responded to our feedback and comments thoughtfully and helpfully.
As importantly, they were a pleasure to work with. Regular meetings with Al were always informative and enjoyable. It was also very reassuring to have Al present at our related event, where she facilitated a breakout session. Knowing her integrity and expertise, I felt able to trust that her session would go well, which is particularly valuable when running a busy and multi-faceted event.

The Green Estate CIC
Project: Community co-design with The Green Estate CIC
Explore the projectThe Green Estate CIC has had the pleasure of commissioning Al Mathers to work collaboratively with us on a community co-design project which ran from July 2025 – July 2026. The project came at a pivotal time for our organisation as we explore what it means to be an urban resilience demonstrator and importantly, what that means for local people.
Al curated a beautiful narrative for the project which followed the seasons and centred around storytelling from the past, present and future. The effort in the detail was outstanding and it was a joy to work with Al from start to finish which included prep work, the launch at our annual Marvellous Meadows event, shortlisting participants, a series of workshops with 12 local people, testing out community meals, the final showcase event and everything in between!
The project would not have been as successful as it was without Al's experience, knowledge and care and we are deeply grateful for that and are excited to continue working with Al as we take forward the outcomes of the project.

Explore the projectDr Al really got to know us — our team, our space, and the heart of our work. Her thoughtful, structured approach ensured the impact report genuinely reflected who we are as a charity. Her collaborative style and steady momentum kept the project moving, and the final report captured You and Me Counselling exactly as it is.
